Adipex is an appetite suppressant which helps in the reduction of weight in obese patients. It is used for short term treatment and should be combined with exercise, diet, and behavioral modification.

Phentermine is also contraindicated or should be used with caution in patients who are pregnant, patients who are lactating, patients who are taking drugs without prescriptions, on herbal medicines, patients allergic to drugs, patients with brain or spinal cord disorder, atherosclerosis or hypertension.
The general side effects of Adipex are due to its sympathomimetic action like increased blood pressure and heart rate. It causes palpitations, restlessness and insomnia. The common side effects lactic acidosis, irritability, nervousness, euphoria, unpleasant taste, nausea and vomiting.
Adipex is also available without prescription. It is available online generally at a dose of 37.5mg. Adipex which is used without a prescription should be used with caution because it may cause dependence.
